If you follow this blog regularly you know by now I’m a total sucker for urban scapes and love street art. It;s always an amazing backdrop for a couple shoot. These two gorgeous and totally badass women were beautifully photographed on streets of London by talented Jo of Joasis Photography. And Rachael tells us their story.
TELL US THE STORY OF HOW YOU MET
Myself & Francesca met through our work as police officers in London. Believe it or not Francesca was my mentor for the TSG- riot police! We used to have to do circuits together at the beginning of the shift to keep fit for our physically demanding role. She used to wear these fairly short pink gym shorts, she certainly got my attention! We kept it professional for a short while but on a work night out Francesca finally plucked up the courage to kiss me, we’ve hardly spent a day apart since, although we do now both work in different departments in the Police so I no longer get to see those short shorts on a daily basis ;)
London-based venue RSA House has been selected by bridal designer Sassi Holford as the setting for the unveiling of her new 2020 Enamour Dress Collection.
RSA House hosted the Sassi Holford and Friends event on 30th October, 2019, with guests enjoying a runway show displaying the gorgeous gowns in the collection, followed by a meet and greet with the designer herself as well as a range of suppliers.
Sassi Holford stated, “In a truly historic part of central London, the Georgian splendour of RSA House was the perfect location for me to launch my 2020 Collections of bridal and occasion wear.
“I loved the setting of the Great Room for my salon show, and then to contrast that with the modern industrial feel of the vaults where our guests were entertained and entranced by the very best wedding suppliers in London”.
PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF
With Bells On! is an indie stationery company – I design and craft wedding stationery suites for alternative couples who are looking for something a bit offbeat. I usually work from scratch, getting to know each couple and creating something just for them, but I have some customisable collections to choose from too!
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO START YOUR BUSINESS?
I feel like the wedding industry can be archaic and not very inclusive, rife with under-representation of whole groups of people. And I love to create bespoke, unique and fun stationery for people who might be not be able to find what they like elsewhere – something that is meaningful to them as a couple. So I started With Bells On! because it balances of my love for vibrant, joyful design and it allows me to be an open-minded, friendly ally to people who don’t want ‘traditional’ or ‘expected’ to rule what they do with their big day!
HOW DOES YOUR TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE?
Every day is different, which I’m sure every small business says! My first port-of-call is to check emails, Instagram, Etsy and my listings to make sure I quickly get back to anyone who’s reached out. The rest of the day is a mix of designing, researching, chatting to people, printing, cutting, sticking, popping down the Post Office…! I love the variation of tasks and I work from a little corner of my home!
Lots of events on the blog lately, but this one is super duper special. If you are planning a wedding that is anything but tradition you should make a trip and go to this insanely cool wedding fair on the 15th and 16th of March in Birmingham. Just look at these pictures!

We met through a dating website called Gaydar Girls, I don’t think it exists anymore! We’d been chatting for about three months before we decided to meet up. It was an August bank holiday weekend, I’d been working all day and remember rushing home scrubbing up and walk down to the beach, where we’d agreed to meet. And the rest is history.
NOW ABOUT THE BIG DAY – WHAT WAS THE THEME AND INSPIRATION?
The theme was relaxed beach house party and the location was all the inspiration needed. Huge sand dunes, vast expanse of sandy beach, sea in the distance. We wanted the day to have a natural relaxed feel. Floral tones of green grasses & foliage, with hints of dusky pink/cream roses. We styled it ourselves and it was a bug beach house party.
Look at these two happy gentlemen in kilts! What a great Glasgow wedding, enjoy!
TELL US THE STORY OF HOW YOU MET
We met almost 20 years ago through friends and being out and about in bars and clubs in Glasgow, however we didn’t ask each other out back then. With the world of social media and Facebook, having pop ups of someone you may know function we connected as friends and it led to us both catching up for a drink. And then led to a 10 year relationship.
Today I have wise words for you from people who are specialists in words – Great Speech Writing, a website that helps people write amazing things for their loved ones’ wedding days.
So there is a downside to a marriage. Someone has to stand-up and give a wedding speech! And it’s no secret that public speaking brings on a whole raft of anxieties even when there isn’t a wedding to arrange.
We receive so many calls from couples asking where to start. Is there a template for a gay wedding speech? Who speaks and what do they say.
Fortunately, the answer could not be simpler. There are no rules. No obligations. No century-old traditions. We have crafted hundreds of wedding speeches and all that matters is that they are warm, relevant and sprinkled with love.
That’s isn’t quite as easy as it sounds, and it requires time, patience, and skill. While no two speeches are the same, and each begins with a blank page, every single one will follow these fundamental principles.

TELL US THE STORY OF HOW YOU MET
It was May bank holiday weekend in 2009, Stuart had his sister visiting from Liverpool and I was out on the town with a group of friends. We both ended up in the Boston which is Northampton’s local Gay bar.
I remember walking in to the bar, ‘Number 1’ by Tinchy Stryder was playing, the way I recall it Stuart was on the dance floor, he has all the moves! I’m more off your classic two step ‘dad’ dancer! He has amazing dimples and I couldn’t stop looking at him!
We got introduced by one of our mutual friends Marc, over the course of the night we kept finding reasons to talk to each other aided by Stuarts sister Laura [Stuart would say I was finding reason to talk to him].
We found it easy to talk to each other, found each other interesting and we both didn’t want the night to end, when it was time to go, we exchanged numbers, from there we arranged our first date. Which was a drink at a local pub, we joked if I didn’t come back from the WC then I’d have climbed out the window… I didn’t climb out the window.
We had come across The Missing Sock venue in Cambridgeshire a few years ago, and were struck by how unique, colourful and quirky it was. There were so many unique features, from a Karaoke bus to quirky seats in a pond to painted murals. Everything about festival weddings is over the top colour-wise and bright, so, from the outset The Missing Sock was the perfect backdrop for this styled shoot.
The Missing Sock is part of a charitable network and the profits of the business go towards other linked charities around the country.
Other venues and projects include CIC organisation Breathing Space (a retreat centre for women) Kinda Village (a growing community in the beautiful landscape of South Wales, and Kinda Place ‘Preston Sands Hotel’ an ETHICAL and community based hotel in Devon.
We made the bouquets big, bright, oversized and extravagant, with tons of mixed colourful ribbon handles. The flower crowns worked great with the bouquets, and if it’s festival-themed, there has to be some crown-wearing! Wild flowers were definitely ideal for this styled shoot, and this tends to be a natural choice by couples, particularly for this venue, as well as those looking for a festival vibe wedding. The British grown and whimsical style flowers included the quirky craspedia (yellow balls), daisies, and the unusual textured burgundy amaranthus – were ideal choices within the mixed bouquets.
