PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF
– Colourful, emotional, fun, relaxed documentary photography.
Hi, I am Paola a wedding photographer based in London, originally from Italy.
I’m adventurous, non-conformist and completely non-judgemental. I believe in celebrating originality and diversity, embracing life in all its form.
My husband is Anglo-Caribbean and my children are of mixed heritage.
There is nothing more exciting for me than discovering new way of thinking, new way of living.
Things I love, my bike, running, exploring, nature, upcycling, re-creating, re-inventing, coffee, and my lovely family.
Music makes me rock, I love tattoos, I adore meeting people and I can chat in five different languages! English, Italian, Portuguese Brazilian, Spanish and French.
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO START YOUR BUSINESS?
What made me start my wedding photography business?
In 2012 I fell in love with a Blog called Rock ‘n’ Roll Brides, an alternative wedding blog by Kat, covering unique and non-traditional weddings. Initially was the excitement of discovering that wedding DON’T have to be boring and old fashion, now I’m know what I love most is the beautiful imperfection of things, created with love by people that don’t conform. Make your wedding your very special and unique event, do it your way!
HOW DOES YOUR TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE?
Well, very different now that we still under the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions but pre-pandemic it would have being…
take the children to school, then back to the office, check emails, make calls, editing, social media.
If it is a wedding day, I will be completing in a zone, fully engaged in preparing for the big day.
WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF YOUR JOB?
The best part of my job is definitely meeting people.
I absolutely adore discovering their stories, I get very excited and I always want to help.
I have so many ideas and if asked I can suggest suppliers.
I’m very passionate about what I do, very Italian indeed.
“We hired a photographer, but we leave the wedding with so much more. We are honoured to have had such an artist as Paola capture our day, and we are delighted to now call her a good friend. Paola doesn’t sell photos, she sells Paola, and amazing photography just happens in the process”
— MARK & GEOFF
AND WHAT IS THE WORST PART?
The worst part of my job is definitely anything that is not creative! I’m too much of a maker and my brain always spins with new ideas, I can’t sit down and do the boring stuff, marketing, finances…
WHAT IS THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOUʼVE BEEN GIVEN?
The best advice I’ve been given as a wedding photographer is definitely to find your voice, your style, your people.
Don’t try to be someone else, focus on your values, who you are. To be remembered is not only about creating lovely pictures, is about defining your unique visual flair.
Finding the right moment, the right light, the right energy. Composition can tell the story in a very distinctive way.
WHAT WOULD YOU WANT COUPLES TO KNOW ABOUT WHAT YOU DO?
I would like my couples to know that I care, I really do.
I would like to ask them to put their trust in me completely, they are like family to me.
I will always do my best to help and support them, I’m very transparent and caring. I will never let them down.
“She gives her whole heart to the people she is working for”
— EVE & ALE
DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR COUPLES PLANNING A WEDDING?
I love organic imperfection, go with the flow. Don’t sweat the small stuff, don’t get upset about minor problems.
Always have a plan B, so that you know that rain will not spoil the party.
Be you, don’t conform, express your vision, do it your way and enjoy the process of creating something special.
Don’t stress, the magic will happen and will be memorable.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU DIDNʼT WORK IN THE WEDDING INDUSTRY?
Probably have a family run business, something creative, or maybe run a coffee place in a little town in Italy.
Or set up a bed and breakfast in a rescue animal centre or have a little Boutique fish restaurant at the seafront overlooking the sea.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR TIME OFF?
In my time off I like spending time with my family, go for long walks in the woodland, visit museums, explore London, or trying something new.
If it’s winter definitely sitting near an open fire with friends, I love travelling and making things but creativity is definitely what I like the best.
I am very fortunate because before starting my family I travelled a lot. I lived in South America and visited Asia, Europe, North Africa and the Caribbean.
I love the Danish concept of HYGGE, the togetherness, and the cosiness. So I would probably like to explore the lifestyle of the Northern Europe countries.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS?
Where do I see myself in 10 years time? I absolutely love everything about Photography and Weddings but realistically is quite a demanding job. Long hours, heavy bags, maybe in 10 years time I will book less weddings and much smaller and intimate ones.
