DO YOU WANT TO TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL?
Vicky made the proposal to Sian at Christmas, using Ralph the naughty elf who played daily tricks on her (From creating a snow scene in our living room – inclusive of giant polar bear, sticking 100’s of sticky notes on her car to destroying some of her favourite tops) until the final day where he presented the ring and Vicky stumbled through her proposal.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING STYLE IN ONE SENTENCE?
Outdoors, chilled festival type vibe with lots of personal touches.
WHAT WAS THE THEME AND INSPIRATION?
Festival meets boho chic! The inspiration was blending Vicky’s love of old world and rustic charm with Sian’s natural eye for immaculate detail of femininity. There were special items for loved ones no longer with us, a jazz band and a children’s entertainment tent – We also had family rounder’s on the evening before. We fell utterly in love with Dewsall the moment we got there, there is a magic and a charm here I have never felt before. Between the stylish Wainhouse barn for our evening, the beautiful outdoors ceremony and grounds – It was a magical environment to work with.
DID YOU STYLE IT YOURSELF?
From start to finish – We had a scrap book and every detail was captured!
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE VENUE AND WHAT DID YOU LIKE ABOUT IT?
We fell utterly in love with Dewsall the moment we got there, there is a magic and a charm here I have never felt before. Between the stylish Wainhouse barn for our evening, the beautiful outdoors ceremony and grounds – It was a magical environment to work with. The ceremony had our closest family and friends, including relatives from Australia! Family stayed with us on the evening before and of the wedding in the beautiful main house bedrooms and Sian and I had our own barns to share with our bridesmaid’s and family members. We loved the flexibility of how we could use the space – From canopes and our favourite wines and champagnes, to tip top buckets and beautiful flowers all around.
YOUR WEDDING PLANNER
We worked with the Dewsall team actually, sharing our ideas and they were fabulous!
We used a local florist who were recommended to us. They did all of our wedding flowers and even built a floral arch for our ceremony.
Dewsall told us they were foodies and they delivered! We had ox cheek and children’s choices, with soup to start in the most fabulous individual china sets. We even had a ‘pudding table’ with the most inviting deserts in a really relaxed way. On the evening of the wedding we had bacon sandwiches and wedges in almost a bbq style – Round the firepit, in the wainhouse barn and for others, as they strolled around the grounds.
All Sian! Navy and gold with different flavours on each tier! Amazing! Again we used a local bakery Sian found and they were incredible.
A jazz band on the evening (Apollo Gold) absolutely amazing and everyone was up dancing! They even played our first dance song which was quite special. Music throughout the ceremony was played by our good friend Lorna on the piano and Dewsall provided an outdoor sound system for our ceremony.
Sian looked like a princess in an ivory fairytale style dress coupled with her stunning Louboutin shoes.
I (as usual) went for something a bit different, a very low back lace dress – again in ivory with a gorgeous long trail. Luckily our families attended both fittings to make sure we didn’t clash… You have to think about this stuff as two brides darling!
Chris Denner – What a character! Fabulous to work work and not your average photographer, I remember him jumping out of bushes on more than one occasion to get the perfect shot. Lovely guy in the run up and throughout our special day – didn’t miss a single special moment. Both of us cried when we viewed our photo’s and he was great with our 1 year old Bobby, even got a smile in the end.
WHAT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT AND MOST FUN PART FOR YOU?
Having all of our most special people together for two days is something money cannot buy – The bonus that through Dewsall we were able to bring our long planned ideas to life in a truly one off setting, well that was just the biggest bonus! Fun – Has to be family rounders on the evening before.
WOULD YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?
Make it personal, there is no ‘I should’ take time out to enjoy it, don’t get caught up in the hype! Its your wedding day and it flies by. And my biggest tip, prepare yourself for the seating plan – wow!
