STYLED SHOOT: I kissed a girl and I eloped – a wedding in Gran Canaria

Days are getting shorter and darker here in UK, so today we’re bringing you lots of colour, sunshine and laughter. And a little both of witch vibe ;). Carolina who is a wedding planner specialising in Gran Canaria weddings sent us this fun shoot she organised and shared the concept behind it.

My name is Carolina and I am starting my business as an alternative and LGBTQ Wedding Planner in Madrid and Gran Canaria.
Everything bridal related is still quite traditional here, and a lot of people think that getting married means being the center of attention of a very formal event that has nothing to do with them. For most of them the first image that crosses their mind is a Catholic Church Wedding so they kind of get scared off. This makes me sad, because they think they can’t have a special day.
What really gets me excited is the change in their faces when I explain that getting married doesn’t have to be like that.

I believe a wedding is about a couple that love each other, that have a unique relationship and deserve a unique celebration. I ask them what they’re passionate about, how they met, what it is that they reallly love and have in common and start designing from there.

This wedding was shared with us by Kate and Becky’s amazing photographer – Anete Lusina of Lusina photography
The details of this wedding are amazing – we absolutely love the typing machines, seating plan and all the foliage! Such a wonderful day.

Kate and Becky met in Beijing, currently live in Cambodia and got married in Nottinghamshire.

We got married at The Pumping House, which is a beautiful converted pumping station on the edge of Sherwood Forest.
Jo (the Venue Manager) was incredible. Very organized and just lovely.

STYLED SHOOT: The Other Space

This amazing shoot came out of the creative hands of creative director Erin Balfour of Way Out Weddings and stylist Lisa Johnson of Carmela Weddings.

As Erin says it all began with the ICETANK – a venue that reminded her of Stanley Kubrick’s Space Odyssey 2001 and A Clockwork Orange. Then it all fell into place – white futuristic styling, visors made of Perspex, reflective metal, bursts of orange, bridal jumpsuit and a cape. Brides not of this world – hence ‘The Other Space’.

You can read more about the creative process from all the amazing suppliers (that we listed below) on Erin’s wedding blog – Way Out Wedding.

Wedding planning advice: I’m considering a destination wedding – where do I start?

Planning a destination wedding can be very overwhelming and many couples decide not to follow their dreams of a wedding abroad purely because of the amount of work it may take to organise. But let’s remember you can delegate most of this work and enjoy a fun elopement or wedding in our dream place. That is what wedding planners are for! Author of our advice article today is Claire – a UK based wedding planner behind Wed in Central Park, who specialises in organising weddings and elopements in New York City’s iconic park.

For the past five years I have been planning weddings for couples who want to get married in New York’s Central Park. When couples make first contact with me, they can be anywhere in the range between knowing exactly what they want, and when and how, and really only being in the very first stages of considering a destination wedding. Many couples are just looking for advice on where to start. I have planned around one hundred and eighty destination weddings or elopements to date. Here is a brief overview of how I would guide a couple who were in the early stages of considering a destination wedding. Whether you think a Central Park wedding would suit you, or you are interested in marrying in another great city of the world, or you are considering getting married on a beach, or somewhere else outdoors I hope this will be of use to get you thinking.

There are a few really big questions that need to be answered early on. Firstly, is this a destination wedding with a group of friends and family, or is this an elopement for just the two of you? Either way, you should discuss your tentative plans or ideas with your loved ones. They may have been assuming you would get married at home, or they might not want to travel, or they may not be able to travel for various reasons. Also, they might have some great ideas themselves, and they might be able to help. Continue Reading

TONI AND LAURA’S INTIMATE WELLINGTON WEDDING

same sex wedding new zealand - gay wedding blog
We are so excited to share with you the first real wedding on this blog!! It was sent to us by fabulous photographer Toni Larsen from New Zealand.
So guys, meet Toni and Laura!
They first met when Toni was hosting a farewell for Laura’s ex girlfriend. After a long (and weird) night out, they ended up catching up literally only once every year following that, until one evening after a few too many bourbons and a few years had passed, their faces collided on a busy city street. Toni then moved herself into Laura’s apartment the week following, and that, was pretty much that.
