March 1st 2017 was a huge date for Finland – that’s when same sex marriage became legal. That day Raùl and Hannu got married along 8 other happy couples at a theatre in downtown Helsinki.
This is what they told us about themselves and their big day.

How did you meet?
We met via Instagram in March 2016. We started chatting and fell in love after a while. Hannu visited Mexico in summer 2016 and Raul moved to Finland in October 2016.

Tell us about the day! What was the theme, inspiration, the most important and most fun part for you?
Our wedding day was very special because it was the day when same sex marriages became legal in Finland.
We were invited to take part in this historical event “Finally getting married” The whole program was planned by a gay friendly theatre Kapsäkki in Helsinki and everything was sponsored by the Koneen Säätiö.
The planner and producer of the wedding event was Petri Pöyhönen.
We also had really fun time with our wedding photo shoot. Our photographer Satu Mali was very nice and she made us feel very comfortable.
Of course the most important part of the day was the actual wedding ceremony. It took place on a theatre stage. We were there together with 8 other couples.
When I saw these guys on Instagram I instantly wished I could hang out with them, just look at these smiles!!
They got hitched in Palm Springs, the mecca of fun and modernist architecture. The couple and their closest friends all stayed at the Airbnb house where they relaxed, swam in the pool and enjoyed some delicious cocktails. The ceremony was held on property and all the guests hung out and enjoyed each other’s company after the intimate ceremony.
Huge thanks to their photographer Ryan Horban who shared his beautiful pictures with us.
Jo and marina got married on a sunny day at the Royal Wells Hotel in Tunbridge Wells.
”We just wanted a nice relaxed wedding. The VW camper was our biggest extravagance” they said. We think the ladies’ huge smiles are the best most beautiful part of this wedding at this wedding, beaming with happiness.
The day was beautifully captured by Denise Rimmer of One Love Pictures
Melissa and Laura chose the gentle scenery of Tuscan hills for their wedding. It was an intimate ceremony with their families and closest friends.
Here are some beautiful images shared by their fantastic photographer Elena Foresto.
This elegant wedding was sent to us by the Thomas Bui Lifestyle wedding planning team. This is what the said about the day.
Christian Ridge and Robb Sullivan were married on June 13th of 2015, which also happened to be Robb’s birthday. Robb said marrying Christian was the best birthday gift he ever received.
Christian is originally from England and moved to the States when he was eight years old, Robb is originally from Arkansas and they met four years ago on a cold January night at local bar in San Diego. They have been together since and haven’t looked back.
Christian proposed to Robb while on a trip to England to visit his grandmother. They drove up to Edinburgh Scotland for a weekend getaway, or at least that’s what Robb thought. Christian had planned all along to propose and had already told his family and even the hotel staff were in on the secret. It was a beautiful weekend that neither will ever forget.
- We are so excited to share with you the first real wedding on this blog!! It was sent to us by fabulous photographer Toni Larsen from New Zealand. So guys, meet Toni and Laura! They first met when Toni was hosting a farewell for Laura’s ex girlfriend. After a long (and weird) night out, they ended up catching up literally only once every year following that, until one evening after a few too many bourbons and a few years had passed, their faces collided on a busy city street. Toni then moved herself into Laura’s apartment the week following, and that, was pretty much that.
